One of our employment partners is seeking a Quality Manager for their client in Vaughan, Ontario. This opportunity presents excellent potential for growth and advancement! 

The client provides a comprehensive range of body, chassis and engineering solutions to global customer base. Through their robust product engineering, outstanding tooling capabilities and diverse process expertise, they bring lightweight and innovative products to market.

About the Role:

Manage a busy department of 20 at this medium-size metal stamping Tier 1 company. This position is customer and supplier-centric, so STRONG communication/presentation skills are required. Must be adept at QSM and audits.

Key Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership/professional experience as Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, or similar position in automotive industry
  • Minimum completion of a University of Applied Sciences degree in Engineering or equivalent areas
  • Strong Professional skills in MS Office programs.
  • Knowledge of other common quality software tools (e.g., FMEA, CMM, PC DMIS, etc.), and Epicor CMS ERP system an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of various lean and quality tools such as: Lean Thinking, A3 problem solving, 5S, Standardized Work, Six Sigma, Standardized Work, various Problem-Solving methods, and the Quality Core Tools (MSA, GD&T, SPC, PPAP, …)
  • Expertise in IATF / ISO / VDA quality systems
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment which includes stamping and assembly an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Build and develop high performing cross functional teams through effective staffing, coaching, and mentoring
  • Ensure company representation at customer locations to effectively meet issue response requirements
  • Develop, implement, and approve changes to the operation procedures/plans/policies of the organization to manufacture a quality OEM product.
  • Maintain liaison between manufacturing, engineering, and customer to resolve specific problems related to product concerns and co-ordinate the implementation of effective preventive or corrective action.
  • Ensure availability of required equipment and trained personnel to meet product testing and validation requirements
  • Coordinate with Program Management through APQP to accomplish changes as needed to ensure that products can be manufactured to meet final customer specifications.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of advance quality planning, process flow charts, FMEA and control plans.
  • Participate in engineering design review and product costing.
  • Ensure that all requirements are met for production part sample approval.
  • Ensure that the company policy and procedures related to quality adhere to established customer and corporate manuals and directives.
  • Ensure that supplier audits of the QA system are conducted regarding compliance to standards and procedures when required.
  • Ensure that company has access to and obtains all required customer specifications and standards.
  • Perform duties of the company Management Representative for TS16949 registration and audits.
  • Ensure that an effective internal auditing program is in place to monitor compliance to automotive requirements
  • Developing, controlling, and spending of department annual budget.

Physical Demands:

  • Exposed to work environment changes including noise, lubricants and temperature changes
  • Must possess a valid passport and drivers license as travel is required on occasion.
