One of our employment partners is seeking an Automotive Plant Manager in Birmingham, Alabama. Their client has been providing quality parts to international automobile manufacturers for more than 20 years. As a Tier 1.5 manufacturer, they are well known for their exceptional products and service. This is a direct result of the team they have built.
They are seeking an experienced Automotive Plant Manager to join their team!
Summary
Oversee all processes plant wide, including: Stamping, Welding, Materials, and Quality & Maintenance to ensure production schedules are met, costs are within budget, quality is maintained, morale is supported and associates are working in a safe manner.
All duties must be performed in a safe and appropriate manner and follow all IATF 16949:2016 requirement initiatives. Reports to the President.
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership for developing and directing all activities plant wide under the direction of the President.
• Lead the team to the budgeted targets within the operational plan.
• Interface with all associates at our sister plant and develop and maintain a positive relationship
• Interface with local governmental agencies when required and develop and maintain a positive relationship
• Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
• Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety legislative requirements are being met.
• Support and adhere to all company health and safety policies, programs and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to all employees.
• Involvement in the accident/incident investigation program.
• Participate in accident investigation program, operator start-up inspections and hazard identification programs.
• Monitor accident frequency, history and analysis of injury data to target areas for improvement.
• Perform regular workplace inspections, both scheduled and unscheduled.
• Develop and implement visual manufacturing workplace, including standardized work instructions, and visual aids.
• Strong focus on plant housekeeping, 5S.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and timely feedback to further enhance growth within the team
• Develop and implement communication programs including monthly associate meetings that foster team spirit and an atmosphere of participative management.
• Instill company Guiding Principles and continuous improvement philosophy and further its growth
• Maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates, supervisors and other key stakeholders of the company.
• Improve production standards through time studies and other standard data development methods.
• Develop systems to evaluate, score, and implement manufacturing business system process improvements.
• Create and implement repeatable scoring metrics for all manufacturing and production operations.
• Understand and manage profit and loss statement up to gross margin level.
• Preparation and adherence to annual and as required budgets and operating plans in accordance with overall company budgets and operating plan preparation cycles.
• Provide cost analysis as required by senior management
• Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with company handbook policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Develop, coach, mentor and motivate subordinates.
• Assist in training associates in problem-solving techniques and on-the-spot production troubleshooting.
• Motivate and educate the team on any necessary operational information that could enhance the company performance
• Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned by the President.
Qualifications
• 5+ years’ experience in the automotive industry preferably stamping and welding.
• 5 – 10 years management experience.
• Experience, training in Toyota TPM, Honda Lean Manufacturing System and or Six Sigma.
• Strong / methodical problem-solving skills – proficient in the 8D method and 5P method.
• Strong tooling background (Tool and Die Qualification preferable, Die design).
• Proficiency in related computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
• University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline.
• Demonstrated planning and system implementation ability.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 policies & procedures.
